“Rider Speedbuilds”
A personal challenge, to see how fast I could create characters and mounts within a set time limit: “Moose rider” was done in 9 hours, and “Ostrich rider” was done in 3 hours. It was a fun challenge in the sense that I had to “hurry slowly” and take decisions on the spot while embracing imperfections.
Process
The project began by picking an animal as a starting point. I then roughly modeled the body features, and from there I intuitively freestyled the rest, testing features and clothing along the way, “sketching” with elements in Blender and fine-tuning elements that worked. Using a Toon Shader proved to work well with the somewhat chaotic geometry that arose, hiding imperfections and unoptimized topology.
